Stressed Out Notes From A Neat Freak

a_clean_bedroomOrganization… Do you just cringe when you hear that word? I know it seems impossible, but a clean room and  a clean bathroom may actually benefit you.

Just to lay the groundwork, I myself used to be something of a slob. My room was a disaster and I dreaded the times when I had to clean. My bathroom was even worse. There would be water on the counter, scum in the bathtub, and mildewy towels in the corner. But I’m not that way anymore! My bathroom is not spotless, but it is clean. My room is well, spotless- no joke. How did I do it? Read on…

In truth, I don’t believe that anyone really enjoys being messy. We just feel that we don’t have time, it’s boring to clean, or that it’s just gonna get messy again. As far as the idea that we don’t have time- Have you ever heard the phrase, “If you need something done, give it to a busy person.” If it’s high enough on your priorities, you’ll find the time. To the people who are bored- I’ll get to you later. To those who say “Well, it’ll just get messy again.”, do you shave? Why do you shave your legs? It’s just going to grow back isn’t it? Okay, great, now you have absolutely no reason not to keep reading.

The aforesaid reasons used to be my own excuses. That was until I read that your home and the condition it’s in is really a reflection of your own mind. I know this sounds like a stretch, but this made my pride look around and decide that having the crime scene state of my room equal my mind, was not okay. This began a spiral of- after every mess I make, I’ll clean it up. And it feels wonderful! I think the reason it feels so relaxing is because you’re not looking around you at a mess that you have to clean. It’s all ready done.

In conclusion, just consider making a habit of keeping your room clean. A clean room frees one from so much stress. It’s amazing that every teen doesn’t have a clean room. If you get used to it now, it will be easy for you to keep a clean house when you’re an adult. Also, remember that thinking of your room as a reflection of your state of mind, might be an incentive to make sure that you aren’t unconsciously adding stress to your life.

Happy Cleaning!!
