How Teens Deal with Work Stress

“Hey, would you cover for me today?”

Sometimes, it’s hard to find a way to manage getting to work after a long difficult day at school. That doesn’t even include the countless hours of extracurricular activities; homework, youth group, family time. How can you get it all done without a total melt down?bsp_Stack_Of_Money_38591

For me, a job completely took over my life. No matter what I wanted to do, if it conflicted with work, I couldn’t participate. My yearbook advisor and editor-in-chief loved having “yearbook parties”. As, a section editor, I have an obligation to help out and be there. “Oh wait! The yearbook work day is this weekend? I have work. Nope, I can’t get out of it. Yeah it’s all day.” That along with church outings and just spending time with friends was extremely hard.

Personally, I quit my job. But before you say, “Woah, not the best plan there,” I have to say that I got a more time-manageable job. Now, instead of dreading work and counting down the minutes to when I’ll be able to clock out and go home after being on my feet all day, I can finally have a life… and keep bringing in the cash.

That’s not always easy though- just getting a new job. I totally understand that. So reach out; ask a friend to cover your shift. Talk to your boss. No matter what you choose, maybe it’ll work for you and your life.
